A family vacation in Bali becomes deadly. Sheila von Wiese-Mack is found clubbed to death in a suitcase. Heather Mack, her 25-year-old daughter, and her 21-year-old boyfriend, Tommy Schaefer, are indicted and sentenced in an Indonesian court.
Police said Schaefer clubbed von Wiese-Mack with a bowl, then he and Mack stuffed his body into a suitcase and attempted to flee the scene. Heather Mack was pregnant at the time and gave birth to a daughter in prison. When she was two years old, she was placed with a foster family in Bali. Now Mack is released from prison and will be deported. The mother must decide whether to bring the 6-year-old back to Chicago with her or leave her with the only family she knows.
Mack says she is nervous about returning to the United States and what might happen to her daughter, once she is exposed to media attention surrounding her mother.
